Nicole Lapin wants you to declare yourself. Nicole contributes to a new book empowering teens to vote.

HarperCollins has teamed up with Declare Yourself, the national nonpartisan, nonprofit youth voter initiative aimed at empowering and encouraging America’s youth to register and vote in the 2008 primaries and general election, to publish Declare Yourself: Speak. Connect. Vote. 50 Celebrated Americans Tell You Why.

Nicole and many other celebrities, including Adrian Grenier, Hayden Panettiere, America Ferrera and Rosario Dawson, will share their own experiences on topics ranging from “The First Time I Voted” to “Why the Personal is Political” to “Why Your Vote Counts,” and more.

Additionally they will issue a call-to- action, encouraging young people to practice democracy and to register to vote for the upcoming election.

The book will be on sale May 20, 2008.

Nicole was 944’s Power Woman of the Month and she reveals something people don’t know about her, “I’m a vegan. But, no one believes it because when you’re out in the field, most of your meal options involve meat with a side of something fried. But, I’ve learned how to be creative and improvise and can eat anywhere — even a steak house or a gas station.”

When asked about her influences, Nicole says, “My best friend, biggest supporter and critic exist in another power woman, my mom. She watches me on the air everyday. She’ll ride with me in a fancy car or on a scooter. She’ll tell me when my hair looks good and more importantly she’ll tell when it looks terrible. She’ll always be my power woman.” Awww….
